ChampCorr®
Newest Automatic Mushroom Packing Innovation Shown On Mushroom Days
On the exhibition Mushroom Days 2011 in the Netherlands Mush Comb presented the new ChampCorr. This new type of mushroom machinery is used for automatically correcting the weight of the mushroom packages.
Operational principle ChampCorr®
On the Mushroom Days 2011 Mush Comb introduced a new machine for automatically correcting the weight of mushroom packages. The machine is developed by Odemar Projects and Mush Comb represents them in the worldwide mushroom industry.
The machine works as following. Through a conveyor the mushroom packages go into the ChampCorr. The weight of the package is detected and if correct the package continues in the packing line, if not it will take the return conveyor in the ChampCorr. Then it will pass a scanner which detects where to place a mushroom (underweight) or which mushroom to take (overweight). This is communicated to 2 robotic arms which take care of the placing or removing of the mushrooms. After this the mushroom package is guided back towards the check weigher.
The biggest savings are in labour costs and in the amount of "free" mushrooms you give away. Because if you sell for example 250 grams you get paid for 250 grams. If you consistantly sell 285 grams then you give 35 grams away for free. The ChampCorr helps you to reduce the amount of "free" mushrooms.
Operational principle ChampCorr®
After the mushroom packages are imported (on to the infeed conveyor), they are guided in to the direction of a weighing belt, where the packages are weighed, to see if the weight of the packages is just right, over- or underweight. A linedivider distributes the containers into two lanes, i.e.:
1. belt for packages with over- or underweight
2. belt for packages with the correct weight
All packages on belt number 2, continue their way to the output of the machine. The packages which are distributed by the divider on belt number 1, have to be corrected. These packages go through a scanner. The information brought forward by the scanner is being analyzed by the system. This produces the following information:
1. where a mushroom can be placed
2. which mushroom is most logical to be removed from the package
After the correction, these packages are placed on the import belt (the infeed conveyor) again in order to be rechecked by the weighing belt. If there is a package of which the weight is still incorrect, it will be transported to belt number 1 by the divider, in order to go through yet another correction. The ChampCorr® is quickly able to get a speed of about 40 corrections per minute.
